Core Values
-
Integrity & Transparency:
- Why it fits: We believe this is paramount in our financial services. As our client, you are entrusting us with your financial well-being. Being honest and open, even when it’s difficult, builds trust. This aligns with Biblical principles of honesty and trustworthiness (Proverbs 11:3, “The integrity of the upright guides them”).
- How it’s demonstrated: Clear fee structures, honest assessments of your situations, no hidden agendas, admitting mistakes and correcting them promptly.
-
Stewardship & Responsibility:
- Why it fits: Stewardship is about being responsible with the valuable resources (like trust, time, finances and confidentiality). Stewardship reflects our belief that financial resources are a gift to be managed wisely, reflecting a Biblical perspective (Luke 16:10-12, the parable of the talents). We also strive to help our clients be good stewards of their resources.
- How it’s demonstrated: By providing advice that aligns with your long-term financial goals, and by managing our own business finances prudently to “lead by example”.
-
Hope & Encouragement:
- Why it fits: We get it– dealing with debt and financial challenges can be overwhelming and discouraging! It is our explicit mission to build hope through practical steps that bring results we can celebrate together. This sets us apart from purely transactional financial coaches, and aligns with the Christian message of hope and redemption. Together, we’ve got this!
- How it’s demonstrated: Maintaining a positive and supportive attitude (Phil 4:13 “I can do all things through Him who gives me strength), celebrating small victories, reminding clients of their progress, and offering a path forward even in difficult circumstances.
-
Service & Compassion:
- Why it fits: This highlights the relational aspect of your work. You’re not just crunching numbers; you’re serving people. Compassion acknowledges the emotional and personal struggles that often accompany financial difficulties. This aligns with Biblical teachings on serving (1 Peter 4:10 “Each of you should use the gifts you have to serve others”).
- How
it’s demonstrated: Actively listening to clients’ concerns, treating each client with respect and dignity, going the extra mile to help them, and demonstrating empathy.
-
Diligence & Excellence:
- Why it fits: As our Client, you can expect us to be knowledgeable, prepared, and committed to providing the best possible coaching. This reflects our commitment that: (Colossians 3:23-24, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord…”).
- How it’s demonstrated: Staying up-to-date on best practices, technology and innovation; being thorough in performing research and analysis, asking open-ended questions, listening to understand, then providing well-crafted plans, and consistently delivering high-quality service.
- Why it fits: As our Client, you can expect us to be knowledgeable, prepared, and committed to providing the best possible coaching. This reflects our commitment that: (Colossians 3:23-24, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord…”).
- These six core values provide a strong foundation for Exodus Consulting– and are used to guide our decisions and interactions with our clients– and reflect our company culture.

Mike’s background over the past 30 years provides him with an uncommon perspective. Starting out in Accounting and Tax with a local CPA firm, Mike quickly expanded his role to include IT services and tax preparation software sales. He then went on to work for a construction company building multi-family condominiums, where he developed his first integrated Excel-based budget including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flows to support the operation.
Next, Mike Joined Defiance, Inc, a publicly traded company specializing in manufacturing, and established an internal audit department with a focus on financial and operational audits. As the company made acquisitions, Mike was promoted to a Group Controller for 3 manufacturing subsidiaries in the Metro Detroit area. After being acquired by GenTek, Mike also lead multiple successful ERP implementations and supported opening a new tooling subsidiary. Mike joined Omega Plastics (a medical device manufacturer of record) in 2001 as Controller, and was ultimately promoted to VP-Finance and Operations; overseeing both the moldmaking and molding operations. Mike assisted with the sale of Omega to TriMas in 2021, and took on implementation of new technology and process improvement. In 2024, he moved to an external consulting role. Through his 22+ year tenure, Mike gained valuable hands-on experience in all aspects of the business from strategy to program management, HR to IT, Quality and Operations.
Mike is a committed follower of Christ, is thankful for and eager to share the blessings of his expertise and learning from so many excellent team members!
